An Interview with 2Spots Ceramics
Hello there! Well, it’s now December and everyone’s starting to get ready for Christmas so I thought I would bring to you a mini Christmas interview with 2Spots Ceramics. Earlier in the year, I photographed Sarah’s wares for her website, facebook page and marketing materials. She produces some very beautiful and unique pieces, and I myself have used some of her hearts and birds as part of the packages I send to my wedding photography couples! I know that her ceramics could also be used as bridesmaid gifts, wedding favours, table settings so do take a look and see how you can use her bespoke pieces in your wedding plans. Of course, they can be given as personalised keepsakes and presents at any time of year but at the moment her most popular pieces are christmas gift related, so without further ado, I give you Sarah’s mini interview along with the images I took for her.
How did your business come about?
I have had a passion for pottery for the last twenty years and now my children are a bit older I have decided to have a complete change of career and see if I can make a hobby that I love into a business.
Where do you get inspiration from?
I am always thinking of ideas wherever I go and have got lots of inspiration from nature, trips to museums looking at historical ceramics and also when I am by my favourite place: the seaside.
Do you have a favourite design/item from your stock?
My business is varied: I paint babies and children’s hands and feet onto ceramics and also imprint their hands and feet into clay as well as making my own range of ceramics. I love each element of my work and think my favourite bits are developing my throwing on the potters wheel and working with babies and children to create some unique keepsakes.
What’s your most popular design/item? Why do you think this is so popular?
At the moment my most popular items are Christmas decorations painted with babies’ and children’s fingerprints turned into Christmas characters such as robins and reindeer – very cute!
Are you looking forward to Christmas?
Yes, I’m really looking forward to spending some time with my family. However Christmas seems to be coming very quickly and I’ve got a lot of work to finish before then!!
Favourite Christmas food?
Mince pies (especially the ones my mum makes :))
Favourite Christmas drink?
Gin & Tonic…….not just for Christmas!!
Where can we find you?
I have a range of handmade ceramics for sale in the gorgeous “Three Little Birds” shop which is in The Brooks Centre in Winchester. I also have regular “Paint Your Own Pottery” sessions at the YMCA and Leaf & Bean cafes in Winchester as well as offering individual appointments at my home in Colden Common.
