Marli and Jules’ Elegant & Colourful Barn Wedding
by Winchester wedding photographer Jenny Owens
I’m so pleased to finally be able to share the beautiful, elegant and colourful wedding of Marli and Jules back in the summer of 2014! I’ve been waiting as Wedding Ideas Magazine is also featuring their wedding, and it’s out now! Whoo hoo! Wedding ideas have done a really lovely job with their feature so do pick up a copy to read more about their story and their day, but in the meantime here’s a few other wedding pictures from Marli and Jules’ barn wedding in Hampshire.
After 11 years of being together and a few years of being engaged, they decided to finally tie the knot in 2014 and had 6 months to plan it all! Marli’s original plans was to have a bright and bold festival style wedding with ice cream vans and pizzas from a real kiln oven, and hand brewed ale by Jules as favours. They found their ideal location in The Manor Barn which was being renovated by new owners at the time, but then her plans had to be changed after she found her ideal dress! A Martina Liana art deco design which echoed the design of her engagement ring and love for that era. So along with Nicola (the wedding planner from Behind the Scenes Events), they had to have a re-think in how to incorporate the bright bold colours, the barn and the art deco era. In the end they added elegant peacock feathers, navy and gold to bring everything together which ended up in a very elegant, grown up but colourful barn wedding. The flowers and jars used were all hand tied on the day and the jars all lovingly spray painted with gold glitter in different designs. Here are some photos to give you a flavour of the day.
It was certainly a unique, fun and memorable wedding. I loved the fact that Marli included her male best mate as part of her bridesmaid group, Jules brewed their ale wedding favours, and Jules’ phone went off in the middle of the ceremony which made everyone laugh! Thank you Marli and Jules, your friends and family and the great suppliers who made it such a beautiful wedding to photograph.
