Sara and Shoghi get married in Guildford

Registry Office wedding followed by celebrations at The Seasons Cafe

I really enjoy my job as a wedding photographer, not least because I get to be a part of wonderful celebrations of two people in love and the joining of two families, but also because I get to meet so many interesting people and learn a little about different cultures and traditions.  I was excited to shoot Sara and Shoghi’s wedding after hearing about their plans and their mix of modern and more traditional persian elements.  It’s still not a common thing to do here today but Sara and Shoghi got ready together at home and arrived at Guildford Registry office. Both felt that this made their day more special and relaxing for them and they could support each other on the run up to the ceremony.  Then, following on from that ceremony, we could not wait to see what Owen Lavin of Little Lillies their florist had in store for them at their reception venue as he worked on an installation there!  So please feast your eyes on just a few of the photos from their day. I’m so pleased that everything came together for them.  The bouquets made entirely out of succulents went so beautifully with the rich dark green skirts of the bridesmaid dresses, and that moss wall installation behind the sweetheart table was just amazing.  Also very pleased that their maserati was ready in time for the wedding as I also got a surprise treat and had a ride in it with them! Thank you for the lift Sara and Shoghi – what a treat!

The traditional elements were with the persian ceremony part of their day which I had not experienced before. It did not disappoint: after feasting on delicious food and cocktails (provided by the Tipsy Pigs), some impromptu dancing by family, the day moved on to incorporate a sofreh aghd, a ceremonial tradition infront of a “spread” with each element within it holding a special meaning for the happy couple’s new life together.
